One of the things I struggled with during both my illustrator and animation classes was taking something and turning it into a graphic abstraction. I focus heavily in details and want to include all of the things that I see. I needed to take away those details until only the most important, crucial ones remained. The ability to do this is beneficial in the field of graphic design, where less if often times better then more.
The goal of the Geometric Animals project was to simplify and abstract an animal. Much like the example of the practice fox. This was had for me, as I wanted to include too many details, often drawing every feather instead of a single wing.
During the process of each illustration, we worked on producing +30 simple thumbnail sketches within a short time frame. This process of sketching out the suggestion of an idea was hugely beneficial in grasping the concept of using less details to capture an idea
